The Mid-Potomac Chapter of the Archeological Society of Maryland, Inc. (ASM) was established to promote, support, and encourage the study, investigations, and preservation of archaeology.  [Note: This site is under construction.]

Chapter Objectives:

  • To identify, record, and manage archaeological sites through conducting archival investigations and fieldwork, adhering to the “Standards and Guidelines for Archaeological Investigations in Maryland.”
  • To develop archaeological exhibits for public display.
  • To make information available to the public concerning prehistoric and historic archaeology in Maryland and elsewhere.
  • To promote and encourage the study of archaeology in local schools and institutions.
  • To assist the office of Archaeology of the Maryland Historical Trust.

In support of these archaeological objectives the Mid-Potomac Chapter engages in a variety of activities: planning meetings, workshops, public events, excavations, laboratory work, historical reasearch and field trips.
