The Mid-Potomac Chapter of the Archeological Society of Maryland, Inc. (ASM) was established to promote, support, and encourage the study, investigations, and preservation of archaeology. [Note: This site is under construction.]
Chapter Objectives:
- To identify, record, and manage archaeological sites through conducting archival investigations and fieldwork, adhering to the “Standards and Guidelines for Archaeological Investigations in Maryland.”
- To develop archaeological exhibits for public display.
- To make information available to the public concerning prehistoric and historic archaeology in Maryland and elsewhere.
- To promote and encourage the study of archaeology in local schools and institutions.
- To assist the office of Archaeology of the Maryland Historical Trust.
In support of these archaeological objectives the Mid-Potomac Chapter engages in a variety of activities: planning meetings, workshops, public events, excavations, laboratory work, historical reasearch and field trips.
